Important Note

PF2 - Rage of Elements is written using the upcoming remaster materials, and as such includes certain modified elements. Since the new Core materials have yet to be published, some entries may not absolutely reflect what is printed in RoE in order to maintain clarity, or changes may not have been applied at large to avoid confusion.

  • The new elemental languages have replaced the old ones when adding languages to a character. The old versions will still be present on characters that already have them, but will likely be replaced with the release of the remaster rules.
  • Creatures include the current versions of their spells, which will be replaced with the release of the remaster rules to use the versions printed in their statblocks.
  • Please consult the sidebar in the front of the book as well as the glossary for other changes, such as renamed traits such as spellshape and adjustments to abilities such as Knockdown and Push.

PFS Changes

  • PF2 - The PFS restrictions for Rage of Elements have been applied.
  • PF2 - The PFS restrictions for Lost Omens Highhelm have been applied.
  • PF2 - Starting in year 5, PFS characters have access to the Orc, Ratfolk, and Tengu ancestries, and the changeling, aasimar and tiefling versatile heritages.

The Nitty Gritty

Bug Fixes

  • PF2 - The summoner's Eidolon's Wrath feat wasn't applying the chosen damage type to the focus spell.
  • PF2 - The thaumaturge's Scroll Thaumaturgy feat was not substituting class DC for the DC of scroll spells if it was higher.
  • PF2 - A thaumaturge with the Scroll Thaumaturgy feat would be shown all Cast a Spell items as purchases they could potentially use, rather than just scrolls.
  • PF2 - The wizard's Staff Nexus arcane thesis was not allowing the exenditure of two additional spell slots to add additional charges to its associated staff.
  • PF2 - The runelord class archetype wasn't granting a second focus point.
  • PF2 - A character with a multiclass dedication feat and subsequent feats/abilities relating to the class DC of that class would not always have the DC for those feats/abilities calculated correctly.
  • PF2 - The Medic Dedication feat was not adding its modifications to the values of the dropdown options of Treat Wounds.
  • PF2 - A character with multiple forms of prepared spellcasting could not choose one to expend a spell slot from to add extra charges to a staff.
  • PF2 - Staves were receiving charges regardless of whether they were prepared or not.
  • PF2 - Formulas and other non-items such as "Gadgets to Prepare" that are for items which create minions, such as the galvasphere, would add their own minions to the character.
  • PF2 - Formulas weren't available for items from the CRB equipment chapter that were above level 1.
  • PF2 - The wererat imported from the Vault had the wrong AC.
  • PF2 - Applying the Inspire Courage adjustment to a character with the magic missile spell resulted in errors when attempting to roll the spell's damage.
  • PF2 - Beginner Box characters were not able to add items from the Troubles in Otari adventure.
  • PF1 - Certain shaman hexes weren't calculating their DCs correctly.
  • PF1 - Specific weapons and armor weren't being displayed on the Play tab.
  • PF1 - When adding a natural weapon to a creature, attempting to roll an attack before setting the weapon's damage would result in an error.

Patch at 4:30 Pacific (7:30 Eastern)

  • PF2 - The Elemental Familiar kineticist feat was not allowing the selection of a familiar ancestry.
  • PF2 - With clarification from Paizo, familiars gained with specific abilities, such as the kitsune's Star Orb feat and kineticist's Elemental Familiar, gain those abilities which count against their total number of familiar abilities.
  • PF2 - The calculated DC of the Jaathoom’s Rebuke activation of Jaathoom’s Scarf was errata'd to 28.

Patch 2023-08-16

  • Converted the "select from list" dialog to be a popover window attached to the input field. An example of this is when configuring an item from it's ellipsis menu, such as a Temporary Adjustment stat bonus. This should make all such configuration fields a little easier and more pleasant to use. 
    • Added a search field at the top of the popover when there are more than ~10 items. This should make it much easier to find what you need in long lists, such as temporary adjustments/abilities.
  • When taking HP damage, added the impact of temporary HP pools to the damage preview visualization.
  • Increased the number of HP/stamina grid cells available for taking greater-than-maximum damage in some scenarios
  • PF1 - Fixed HP damage preview display when HP is in negative values
  • SF - When damaging stamina, added an indicator of the amount of damage that will spill over to HP.
  • Vault Viewer - Fixed the book select grid view allowing themes that the rest of the vault did not.
  • PF2 - The kineticist's Hardwood Armor and Metal Carapace feats were not displaying their added armor or shield on the Play tab, and as such presented no option to raise their shields.
  • PF2 - The kineticist's Imperious Aura feat was not recognizing aura-affecting stance impulses for purposes of fulfilling its prereqs.
  • PF2 - The kineticist's Lava Leap feat was dealing one fewer die of fire damage than it should have been.
  • PF2 - The kineticist's metal impulse junction was not displaying its damage type selector.
  • PF2 - Kineticists using the Alternate Ability Score rules from the GMG were not changing their key ability score to Strength.
  • PF2 - The psychic's silent whisper conscious mind was granting sending as a 5th level spell, rather than as a 6th level spell.
  • PF2 - Ancestry feats from a heritage, such as tiefling, were not reporting an error if the character's heritage was changed.
  • PF2 - Phalanx piercer bolts had the wrong price.
  • PF2 - Magic horseshoes, such as horseshoes of speed, were reporting an item slot error when equipped to animal companions.
  • PF2 - The pilgrim's token item now includes a prereq that the character have the associated feat in order to purchase the replacement item.
  • PF2 - Duplicates of the same versatile weapon trait on a weapon are now hidden.
  • PF2 - The DCs of rituals were not being calculated correctly on PCs.
  • PF2 - The false life spell adjustment now automatically calculates the base number of temp HP it grants based on spell level, and allows the caster's ability modifier to be set to apply that as a modification.
  • PF2 - The heatvision spell adjustment was not granting infrared vision at the correct range, or applying its range increase when heightened.
  • PF2 - Weapons were not showing their reload actions on the PDF character sheet.
  • SF - Reach weapons were granting more than +5 ft. reach to creatures larger than Medium.
  • SF - The spell redirection spell was listed as a standard action cast time instead of a reaction.
  • PF1 - The kineticist's elemental annihilator archetype was reporting two errors that the extended range infusion should be taken, when one was actually checking for extreme range.
  • PF1 - A shifter's defensive instinct ability wasn't applying its full bonus to AC in all cases.
  • PF1 - An ogre mage couldn't select forms allowed by alter self when using change shape.
